ALEXANDRIA, Va., March twenty six -- John Mezzalingua Associates, East Syracuse, N.Y., has been assigned a patent (8,137,133) developed by Stephen P. Malak, Manlius, N.Y., for a "micro encapsulation seal for coaxial cable connectors and technique of use thereof."

The abstract of the patent revealed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark workplace states: "A coaxial cable connector comprising a connector body, a tubular inner post configured to receive a coaxial cable and a clamping member, whereby a minimum of one surface of the coaxial cable connector is coated with microcapsules making an adhesive material. An adhesive layer is pre-applied to outlined elements of the coaxial cable connector in their pre-assembled configuration to avoid increased labor for the connector installer and to make sure a minimal however uniform layer of the microencapsulated adhesive is gift on the required connector elements. When the coaxial cable is inserted into and clamped at intervals the coaxial cable connector, the microcapsules are ruptured by the ensuing pressure. This leads to an adhesive bond forming between the coaxial cable and also the connector to form a secure, mechanical bond and moisture seal."
